Project Professional vs Project Standard — which do I need?
Professional adds four capabilities Standard lacks: SharePoint task-list sync (two-way), Project Server integration (connect to your org’s on-prem Project Server), multiple baselines (save and compare up to 11), and demand management (portfolio-level capacity planning). If you’re a solo PM or freelancer managing your own projects, Standard is usually enough. If you connect to a corporate Project Server or SharePoint environment, you need Pro.
Will my key activate on the first try?

Yes. Project Professional 2024 has full read/write compatibility with .mpp files regardless of how they were created — desktop, Project Server, or Project Online. If your colleagues share a .mpp file, you open and edit it locally with no version conflicts. The limitation is real-time collaborative cloud views — those require a Project Online subscription on both ends.
Is this compatible with Mac?
No — Microsoft Project Professional 2024 is Windows only. There is no Mac version of Project. Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit) required. If you’re on a Mac and need project management software, the cloud-based Project for the web (subscription) is the only Microsoft option that runs in a browser on any OS.
